In Blade Runner, the metropolis isn't just a backdrop: it dominates the scene. It's compact, vertical, almost oppressive. The skyscrapers are jagged and composed of sharply contrasting hues, like two souls of the same city: one icy and silent, the other incandescent and unstable. In the clear sky, mechanical presences can be glimpsed, watching from above, amplifying the sense of control.
The city appears powerful, yet distant. The higher it rises, the more humanity seems to be reduced to detail. The work speaks of the present: technology and development as an inevitable force, but also as a possible loneliness. A pessimistic future, but not far from the world we are building.
